Can anyone provide me with details specifying what the maximum depth of a hydrant outlet can be. The information I have states that the outlet below the surface shall not exceed 300 mm however I`m not sure what document this information relates to or if is still current ???

The problem is the outlet may start less than 300mm below the surface however by the time the council has resurfaced the road a couple of times........  When I used to hydrant inspections the guideline was could we get the standpipe on.

The Hydrants in question are approx 0.7m below the surface and these have just recently been installed, there are plans in the near future for expansion of the location it would be advantageous to be able to quote/refer to some sort of gudiance document

Have a look at BS 750 1984 which is the British Standard for underground hydrants.
