Looking to join the service
« on: January 03, 2008, 05:11:44 PM »
My name is Chase and I am extremely interested in joining the Fire Service. I am looking for some advice from those with knowledge and experience and from those currently serving with a Fire & Rescue Service.

I applied for the Kent Fire & Rescue service in July 2005 and made it through the selection process. In April 2006 I had a letter congratulating me and informing me that I passed the Kent Fire and Rescue service selection process but unfortunatley I failed to meet their business requirements. I am still unsure what they ment by this and after a phone conversation with the recruitment team I still didn't manage to get a clear understanding.

Since all this has happened I have focused for on my current job, however this isn't a career for me and it's a career that I am after.

I am still young at the ripe old age of 24 and I have five years military experience behind me. I left the forces as a Lance Corporal and I believe the Fire service would utilise my full potential.

Can anyone out their offer me any advice? I have been thinking about looking in to the RAF fire service, any information from people serving with the RAF service would be appreciated.

Look at www.fireservice.co.uk and their bulletin boards. See you there.
My posts reflect my personal views and beliefs and not those of my employer. If I offend anyone it is usually unintentional, please be kind. If it is intentional I guess it will be clear!
