Hi Im new to this so i dont know if it makes sense, i was just wondering if this year is a year in which the fire service nationally will be looking to fill a large number of vacancies as it will be coming up to a 30 year service mark for those who  joined in '79?

Stevie,

I think that quite a number of the "class of '79" will already have had more than enough and only a few will still be at the crease, so to speak.

Cynical?  Moi?

Yeah, probably.

Far from it.

This was where the cream of the other three watches were skimmed off to make a super SAS type elite watch.

In fact it became common knowledge that the high standards demonstrated by the green watch acted as a beacon of best practise to others and generally raised standards across the board.

Many of those on red, white and blue watch (who obviously failed to make the grade and become one of the elite) became demotivated and extremely jealous of the green watch's status. This led to bitter twisting of the truth, envy and much misinformation, as demonstrated by Jokar's inappropriate comments above. :)
