FETA Training

Does anybody know a company that could provide 'Train the Trainer' courses in what was the old FETA qualification?  I may have a number of individuals to train in this area and I am having difficulty in finding a supplier.  I have spoken to the FIA and they could not help.  The question I asked is 'who trained the trainer?' The answer that I got back was 'I dont know!!'  Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.

Try the other trade bodies, IFEDA & the British Fire Consortium. Chubb & the FPA do the engineers courses, try them as the FPA in particular will do a custom course for the right price & demand.

Of course, the other way of being able to do this is quite simpler - just do a generic trainer's course or NVQ - if you already have the technical knowledge i.e. a FETA certificate and industry experience, then you only need training skills on top.

If you need further help let me know, I've a useful powerpoint or two to help with your development of your training course (or for a fee work would let me prepare you the entire set of training materials ;-) )

Thanks Anthony, I will try the FPA.  I would however be very keen to take a look at your powerpoints to give me some idea of the content of the training.

This is becoming quite frustrating!  I have tried BAFE, FIA (one in the same I found out) FPA and one other I can not remember the name of and nobody can help me!! Surely somebody can offer this training?  Who will train these people that already offer these courses when they retire?  Or is it a case of being a closed shop industry!!  To provide me with trainers might affect their incomes!!  Any ideas?

As I have said, there is no such thing as a trainer course for this. There are two elements to being able to train staff-

1) Correct technical knowledge and experience in your subject
2) Knowledge and skills in training techniques to deliver this information.

I had my portfolio approved to train First Aid at Work by the HSE's approvals body yet have never done a 'first aid trainers' course - I was passed because I had a valid FAW certificate & experience in rendering first aid plus had done some modules in training techniques at university and the Fire Extinguisher Instructors Course at Moreton.

If you've got a FETA/BAFE certificate and some form of instruction in training (such as a suitable short course from a college) your ready. Then you need to put together your course, which needs to use the FETA/BAFE manual & manufacturer's guidance plus practical sessions.

Then you train your staff in house this way and send them to attend the FETA exam only externally and if they pass you've got the qualification.
