I am writing a paper related to the job description of certain ranks in the FRS. Does anybody have any information regarding following job descriptions.

1. Firefighter
2. Crew Manager
3. Watch Manager
4. Station Manager

Thank you

Sorry that wasn't very constructive was it, in answer to your question I don't know where you would find them, ask the HR dept maybe?

Try FBU website

Grey Handbook says:-

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The roles of fire and rescue service employees are those defined within the Integrated Personnel Development System and set out in accredited occupational standards determined by the Emergency Fire Services Vocational Standards Group. The roles used shall be as the fire and rescue authority considers necessary and specific activities within those roles will be determined by the authority to meet the local needs of the service based on risk.

AC when I was active it was Brigades and Ranks and you are correct I should have used the term Roles. My HR dept is the misses and all she wants me to do is the dishes.

NT thanks IPDS is is an obvious place to look and I don't know anything about Emergency Fire Services Vocational Standards Group I will have to do some further research. I will give uk-fire a miss for the moment.

The role maps ARE meant to be the job descriptions, as Nearlythere says, and are defined within the Grey Book conditions of service.

Further information is in the various rank to role NJC documents, especially 09/05. One thing that MUST not be in any JD is "and any other duties etc"
