Health and Safety Anecdotes

Anyone know of a source of health & safety anecdotes, strangely successful legal claims under H&S and the like?

Thanks K but this is too serious. I am thinking more along the lines of the American punter who bought a Winabego with all the gear including the cruise control. He took it on holiday and on  a stretech of road put it into cruise control and went in to the back to make a coffee. The Winnie immediately crashed and he successfully sued the dealer as the salesman did not tell him that when cruise control is selected you must remain in the driving seat to control the vehicle.
Thats the sort of story which makes my day.
Ever noticed why, when you buy a car from a dealer, they show you bits on the car which are every day things such as indicators, wipers, horn, lights etc.
Makes you think that this is the first time they think you have ever driven a car.

The true case I was planning to tell you about involved a lazy cleaner at a care home who rather than using the sluice to empty her bucket opened the door and chucked it out over the path. it was a cold day and the water froze. Half an hour later as she left to go home she slipped on the ice and broke her wrist. She successfully claimed £12k in damages from the owner of the home. I have the background as to why and use this as an example on my H&S courses.

I recall once making a phone call to arrange an appointment for a fire safety inspection...

There I was happily speaking to the receptionist when an alarm starting ringing in  the background.

She continued calmly to speak to me ... a little concerned I eqnuired "What is that noise? do you need to end the call?"....she replied as cool as a cucumber "Oh its just the fire alarm, don't worry about it....now is friday ok say 10.30?"

Needless to say that during the inspection i highlighted several deficiencies in staff training
