Free swinging Fire Doors?

Hi

Can anyone give me advice on free swinging fire doors? The doors I am talking about are situated in a kitchen area. They are the ones that will fully swing both ways ( not jokes please) so can be pushed from both sides.

My question is whether or not these types of doors can be classed as fire rated doors or do there have to be a frame with a stop?

It can be done but its a pain. Special door/hinges/frame - nightmare to get to work.

If you have room its better to have two doors (In & Out)

try using double swing floor springs with top centres, ironmongery websites such as "allgood" or "dorma" should provide adequate info., avoid the use of concealed door head closers though as these will not function properly in anything less than a 54mm thick door leaf

Totally agree - Double swing doors are nothing but trouble - trying to maintain them in effective order is a bit like painting the forth bridge.

Yes double swing doors can be fire doors....kitchens in pubs use them all the time
