Can hinges on a fire door set (FD30) be made of brass?

Yes - Steel and brass hinges are effective for a half-hour door, but only steel hinges will be satisfactory for a one-hour door. Check the CE markings and interpret using http://www.firesafe.org.uk/assets/docs/guide1935.pdf
