Fire Door between a Living Room and a bedroom!

Yes you are so right!

I knew of a case once, where a young woman (27) suddenly had a change on circumstances to her physical ability, she was coping well with her disability, and was coping mentally, as her small (7 and 9yr olds) children were with her, the kids were fine..but social services tried to insist, that the kids would be better of being looked after by someone else.....This distressed the woman and her kids so so much...and would have cost Social Services...this was Social Services applying "overkill"  (is all that was needed was for her to have a carer to help her...not take her kids away so there was no need for one) as foster care costs so much more than the carer in the home would be!
Then, as you say, when its elderly, that may need a paid carer, to assist them, they get told...Have meals on wheels, (so the poor peeps eat on their own, and dont get to socialize) and have a lifeline cord installed, (so they dont need another human to raise an alarm for help)....

and then on the case I refer to yesterday...someone can try and insist that someone has a physical feature in their home, that they've never needed before...that will restict their movement, distress them...and cost the tax payer more money (as the feature is grant aided) It does make one think sometimes.....

I'm happy that my tax money is spent on fire safety features in disabled peoples homes. I'd rather spend it on that than a community art project.

I had an enforcement notice once from a brigade stipulating i needed to install an L1 fire alarm, emergency lighting, signage, wayfinder strips on the floors, an alternative MOE and fire doors to all doors in one of my tennants 2 up 2down domestic dwelling as he needed a stairlift.

Thats overkill. And naturally they wound their neck in
