Developments in Fire Alarm and Detection - Training Courses
« on: April 17, 2008, 04:59:25 PM »
Has anyone got any information regarding courses on current or planned technological progress in fire alarm and detection systems.

I work for a local authority FRS, and deal with false alarm reduction. I'm intersted in keeping my knowledge up to date (accreditted CPD courses), so I don't necessarily want to attend a fire alarm engineers installation course, (and would prefer to keep to the Midlands region if possible).

Many thanks.

In my knowledge there is no specific institute dealing with current and planned technological progress in fire alarm and detection systems...

You need to subscribe to some fire engineering magazines and journals, there are a lot to learn from them, there are always some updated news and products in this industry... the FIA or Ex-BFPSA courses are more about CoP (code of practice) but they may have some courses designed specifically for the purpose you are talking about, if not it is a good and beneficial idea to drop them an e-mail to seek advice or proposes to them to take in consideration that sort of courses...

For engineers to keep up with new technology they attend the manufacturers trainign courses.

You might want to go to a fire expo  like this  http://www.firexroadshows.co.uk/index.htm   and attend seminars.
