Records distroyed after the customer is billed!
« on: November 03, 2008, 08:09:50 PM »
Years ago in some different interview, I asked some manager if they hold any records about, their customer's fire alarm systems; ( history, device list, zone chart, causes and effects, ancillaries and auxiliaries... etc ), his answer was:

( That's the ideal world, just go test it and that's it mate! )

Above that he said:

( just get the docket, we bill the customer and that's it!, the docket end up in the bin mate! )

How such sort of management can have registration either of investor in people, BAFE... etc?

How would customers know about the credibility of such way of work, if the company have such registrations?

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Thank you

I take a very cynical view of many of these accreditiation schemes.

What people say is so often very different from what they actually do.

ISO 9001 being a case in point. It does not mean that we will do it right - but if we do it wrong we will make the same mistakes in the same way every time. But if you want us to change we cant - because we have to jump though a thousand hoops to change anything.

Investors in people etc- all badges so often with little substance.

My question to that manager was from other point of view, if you start working with some company, and the first week, they sent you to service some shopping centre, with more than 15 different systems, and you have no idea to what limit each system start and end! Are they linked or not? What about the causes and effects... etc,

Although; up till now, I have never ever found on site, all those above details, with this in mind we do not need necessarily to be perfect to keep the required records, either on site or in the office! It’s from common sense point of view :)
