System complies to BS 3116 part 4 and BS5839 part 1 ?

Just serviced some system called 'High Integrety Fire Control', the panel is about (1m * 0.70m), it says, system complies to BS3116 part 4 and BS 5839 part 1, never seen that before... etc

Any luck of what are those standards? I used to see BS5839 part 2&4!

Its a very old panel (the size gives that away!)- it is referring to:
 BS5839-1:1980 Fire detection and alarm systems in buildings. Code of practice for installation and servicing (Withdrawn 1988, replaced by BS5839-1:1988)
&
BS 3116:Part 4:1974  Specification for automatic fire alarm systems in buildings. Control and indicating equipment (Withdrawn 1988 & replaced by BS5839-4:1988)

so must be no less than 20 years old and up to 28 years old!

Brilliant Anthony, I have just put system doesn't comply to BS5839 part 2 & 4 for what so ever, the strange things is that, it still in the agenda to be serviced every three months and we are paid to do that, even the building is unoccupied, it's very old student accommodation with no fire detection in the rooms and offices, nevertheless the SDs spacing and the lack of MCPs by the fire exists.

The buzzer noise was really surprising, it's like the noise made by water when drawn through pipes... etc :lol:

i doubt very much if the system is working as per Buzz queery they will upgrade an unnocupied building unless there are future plans to refurbish it and keeping the fire system going in the mean time will give some warning if someone tries to break in and torch it.

It is working OK, and linked to our AMX software so any fire condition should be noticed in the site security office, but in terms of compliance to BS5839 part 2 and 4, it is not..., certainly the customer wouldn't be interested to upgrade it; till new plans are revealed so far...
