Extinguishers with plastic heads
« on: March 12, 2009, 09:00:54 PM »
I know that this has been discussed on many occassions and is an addition to the new BS 5306 Part 3 2009 but apparently Nu Swift have issued a warning to their own engineers with regard to the plastic heads on their 6000 range. It seems that some that are possibly not that old are possibly showing hairline cracks and they seem to have issued their engineers with replacement heads which look identical but are made of what looks like cast aluminium sprayed black.

Shows the difference between manufacturers - Gloria 'fess up about their powders and fire out press releases and let anyone have checking gauges & new levers F.O.C., Nu Swift keep it in house.

Head plastic decay was always an issue with the 6000's. No longer manufactured of course, but they had a good innings being a design of extinguisher virtually unchanged since it's first incarnation in '67 as Model 1707, a 7lb BC powder model to complement the existing 1604, 1615 & 1630 powders.
