the old e-vac chair issue

Hi,
      I am new to this forum and being an access officer quite like the debate on the DDA, its implications, bs8300 and bs5588 (bs9999) and the varied views. Anyway.my question..... what is the current feel in regard to the number of e-vac chairs required? some people use proportional numbers, I've even heared of examples of comparision to bs6465, provision of Sanitary facilities for a basis of number of e-vac  chair requirements.  

 So what is the way of thinking on this matter from a risk/ fire egress point of view?

The big mistake people make is to put the evac chairs on just one staircase, so making it very difficult for disabled people to use alternative means of escape.

True, if you are going to have them there is no point in half measures - at least one per landing per stair, so whereever you are there is one.

In non public access buildings where there are only employees and the location of a disabled employee is pretty static I have seen chairs only installed to that floor after a cost v risk analysis by the H&S officer
