Thank you for the interest and response to the issue regarding when to call the F&R; just to clarify my reasoning for sending 3 persons to check the fire zone; this is to ensure that there will always be 2 members of staff together (allowing 1 to report back to the senior at the panel). If there is a need to move a resident, undertake a task and/or make any decisions it is better and safer with 2 persons; I agree with Kurnal that Walkie Talkie's would enable 2 to respond.
A lot of care homes send 2 members of staff to check the fire alarm zone with 1 to report back, this would then leave 1 by themselves in a potential 'fire zone' -they would struggle if they needed to move a resident and I would suspect would find it very daunting. I would question if this is safe practice? (we would never send or leave a BA wearer in an incident alone)When staffing levels are down to 3 or less (usually late evening and at night) I recommend that the F&R are called immediately and 2 members go together to check the zone.

The Rosepark FAI is still ongoing; it will be interesting to see the findings and recommendations that are made following this lengthy inquiry; I suspect that quite a few of those involved will not come out of it smelling of roses?

This is my first question in the forum and hopefully not my last contribution.

I think the homes owners could plead the innocent card and say they were unaware of the lack of fire precautions however if you are running a caring environment surely common sense would make you want to provide a safe environment?!

If he or any of the staff cared for these people it doesn't take much to look into the home to ensure it is safe regardless of the law you would want to do it because its the right thing to do?!

The internet was available, Kurnal was just a phone call away, im sure they could of acted if they were bothered.
