Unusual for a fire to start in a bathroom. However, my service has recommended the fitting of detection in bathrooms where there is an electric hoist and acrylic bath for some time.

With acrylic baths coupled with malfunctioning ceiling mounted ventilation fans and the increasing use of candles, bathroom fires are not as uncommon as we would think.

Indeed. Alot of authorities recommend or enforce detection in bathrooms with motorised baths too.

Detection in bathrooms? Just the job to keep the false alarms high, eh Monsignor Retters. That will keep the boys in work.  FBU must love it.

Actually not Colin, as I am sure you are aware the taps in bathroms in residential care homes have restrictors on them keeping the water to about 40 degrees C.
