Hi all,

I'm new to this forum so firstly, hello to you all.

I'm looking to give a presentation on the Gillender Street incident in London during the early 1990's, where 2 Firefighters lost their lives.

I have searched this forum and whilst there is a thread relating to the incident, there isn't any actual info on the incident itself.
Does anybody have a PP presentation that I could use?
A link to the HSE report, or any other info you may think is relevant would be gratefully received

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Have you seen this one?

www.firetactics.com/GILLENDER%20ST%202.pps

There a lot of info on this tragic event and a google search also gives links to a fire magazine article on lessons learned.

I did have the full uncut video to the incident from a BAI course at the Fire Service College in the late 90's so it must be around somewhere.  I also remember presentations from the FSC so maybe you could try there?  The main point that sticks in my mind from the video was when the steps of the crew that lost their lives was retraced when the smoke was cleared the route was not that complex.  I can't remember the exact distance from the caged area where the fire was to the staircase but it was not excessive.  Although a long time ago now, it was a very sad incident when you research all the details and I’m sure operational lessons can still be learned today.

A friend of mine was part of the BA crew, I could ask him if he would be prepared to communicate with you about the job if you would like, I don't promise anything though.
