Fire Door Maintenance Frequency
« on: March 27, 2014, 04:11:24 PM »
In order to satisfy a clients question,

I am looking into the references in relation to the Inspection of Fire Doors, both user responsibility and competent person inspection. Currently my recommendations are risk based,

User Inspection:
ranging from, before building use such as pubs and night clubs to a more relaxed frequency of weekly and monthly based on risk level.

Competent Person Servicing:
Quarterly, bi annually , to Annually dependant on the building usage and the footfall usage.

BS 8214 does not give any recommendations as to frequency other than to state
“It is important, therefore, for periodic inspection, maintenance and repair of any damage to be undertaken on a regular basis if the required fire resistance is to be maintained. “

BS9999 goes further with recommendations of 6 monthly and yearly inspections.

I would be interested in “other reference materials” so as to be able to give the client a more definitive answer as to frequency.

Input welcomed??
