10.10 - 11.10 am    The Rosepark Care Home Fire? a case study.
This interactive and eye opening session investigates a tragic fire incident that occurred at a care home in Scotland. It follows a video developed by the Scottish Fire Brigade that highlights, in detail, what went wrong and how lives could have been saved. During the session you will gain an understanding of the key stages involved in the life of a fire alarm and detection system to ensure everything possible is done to limit the risk to life and property. You will also gain knowledge of the latest standards and how technology is being used to prevent similar fatal accidents occurring in the future.

This presentation will give insight in to documenting fire risk management policy, strategy and procedure. Examining through example the different threats that fire poses for different organisations; life safety, business continuity and property protection.

This presentation examines: the nature and level of the threats faced by an organisation, the likelihood of adverse effects occurring, the level of disruption and costs associated with each type of risk ? Risk Profile. Neil will demonstrate the methods and controls that can be put in place to reduce an organisations risk profile and through examples show how this can save on insurance costs.

Each fire risk assessment will generate ?significant findings? which will often generate required actions. When multiplied across a portfolio of buildings the management and priority given to these actions can be problematic.  This presentation will identify how to collate this information; it will define ?reasonably practical? and through case studies illustrate good practice.
