Fire risk assessment new and old

Hi guys,
Just a quick question for you lot; I was wondering if I was still legally correct in using the format of the FPWR in undetaking and reporting fire risk assessments. The reason I ask is that the RRO is not out yet, so can the enforcing authorities demand it at this stage although it's not legal tender?

While were on fra's just a quick question for Colin; I have purchased PAS79 and have noticed there is nothing in there for monthly checks of fire extinguishers, has this been done on porpose as this is outlined in BS5306 part 3 2003, as I normally ask for this when undertaking a fra?

Ooo Yes.
Providing certain criteria is fulfilled..i.e. some one is an employee, FRA necessary but not necessary to record it, how do the local fire authority check...easy by asking staff if they know the FRA results after all FRA are for the staff not the local fire authority!!!!

When 5 or more employees in the same premises or in seperate premises, then a full written FRA is required for each workplace... generic is not sufficient.

Following a number of deaths in residential care homes (not scotland)the Magistrate indicated regardless of the numbers of employees certain premises/businesses should have a written FRA regardless because of the hazardous nature posed to employees/residents!

Lastly the FRA is drawn from health and safety regulations as all fire safety acts/regulations are!

The Act is dead long live anything that replaces it!

Paul, There is no prescribed format for the FRSs under the RRO, so cannot see what the point is, albiet that, before people tell me, there are subtle differences in the objective of the RRO and the WFPL and the finer detail of scope. PAS 79 is not intended to be a fire safety guide, and you are doing a good job if you can get them to check FEA monthly. There is no particular reason for the fact that there is no reference to it in the PAS.

Colin,
I always ask if extinguishers are checked on a monthly basis due to the fact that there is a long period between annual checks and a lot can happen to the units in this period. One example of this was identified last week in a local civic hall, where 3 extinguishers had been discharged and no-one knew about it
