Standard Dry Riser Key??
« on: May 08, 2015, 08:14:20 PM »
Is there still such a thing as a standard lock (and as importantly, a standard key) for a dry riser inlet fitted with a rim lock so the fire service can access the DRM??

If so, where would I find out more (I assume BS9990?)

Thanks

Not that I am aware of. We don't carry any keys on our trucks.

How do you gain access then if the site is not staffed at the time (or they can't find the key). I ask because many sites have replaced the wired glass with metal sheet due to vandalism and where this has been at a site we deal with it's only usually done after consulting the FRS.

Similar can apply to the outlets that can be in cabinets with no window and either a rim lock or a T-key lock

Are you serious Anthony. Don't ever recall a time when I have struggled to get in anywhere. Big sledgehammer, Hooligan tool, Clan Lukas, Holmatro.

You can still purchase standard Fire Brigade locks and keys whether they are still used now is another matter.

All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.
