London Coffee Festival
« on: May 02, 2015, 07:06:35 PM »
Just attended the event where there appeared to be a distinct lack of consideration to fire safety.
Lack of suitable indication of escape routes.
Inadequate standard of illuminated EXIT notices.
There is a fire alarm system with break glass call points, however with with a high level of background noise I have to question the procedure.  This with a distinct lack of identified staff.

Surely LFB would have shown some interest in the event prior to and possibly during the event?

How can LFB even with their resources possibly check every festival or event that takes place in the capital?

Well Steven when are you going to lodge a complaint with LFB? Public and professional duty and that.

I cant believe I am going to defend the LFB, and call me old fashioned, but the LFB are not the Responsible Person here, so if there are any failings I suggest your angst is misdirected.

SteveW - Did you raise any of your concerns with anyone at the event?

I am fully aware LFB 's role in the matter and will contact them however this is an event that has been going for several years albeit this was my first visit.

I was not criticising LFB for the poor standard but I looked around me at the throng of visitors and thought to myself how quickly tragedies can occur.  It crossed my mind that should the fire alarm activate I would initially stay where I was rather than get trampled in the stampede.

I would have raised my concerns with someone at the event if the organisers wanted to be identified.
Only came across youngsters attempting but failing to control persons entering.  The emphasis was placed on an electronic copy of a ticket and the issue of wrist bands.  A system that collapsed as we entered due to numbers and a lack of wrist bands.

Apologies If I am dragging this one out but it does raise the question of the effectiveness of the current fire safety regime.

If the event is licensed it sounds like other aspects of the licensing & public safety requirements may have been below par - if you are serious about this then the local authority may be worth involving.
