Another incident in which, from the TV news coverage,  the cladding appears to have made a major contribution to rapid fire spread?

I have no idea about fire safety requirements in Dubai but if lessons can be learned for buildings in this part of the world then some good may come from it. Your OP Kurnal would seem to imply that cladding is an issue that is not effectively dealt with. Have you some examples that you can point to? I will have a look in TBE / ADB but I can't remember cladding being referred to.

Hi Lyle
I was referring only to the recent fire involving the Torch building in Dubai and the aparent similarity in respect of fire spread up the exterior of the buildings in both fires. Personally I dont have any concerns over the Building Regulations in the UK in this regard.

You will note from the second link that the Dubai  Building Regulations for external cladding were reviewed in 2012

There may not be any concern over the Building Regulations in this Country, however there should be major concerns over the enforcement (or lack of it) of those Regulations. Just look at the problems with Carlisle Infirmary amoungst others.
The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to those who think they've found it.
