Hello,

Can any advise on temporary fire alarm systems for multiple room large commercial sleeping accommodation premises that could be quickly installed. (same day or next). What sort of products are available and what are the costs, installation requirements and legal considerations? Can they be wireless or do the have to be mains powered.

If you can PM me with a company or supplier that would be most helpful.

Thanks

Monkey.

The people at Crisis (at Christmas) are really good at this. (saw them turn an old council office into a hostel in the space of a few days)

Might be worth asking them nicely.

Presumably it's classed as "hotel" regardless of being temporary.

So surely you need a full on 5839 pt 1 system and 75db at the bed head??

Depending on the size of thew place that limits you to EMS / EDA / Sterling wireless kit for quickness.

Presumably this is prohibition territory and the permanent system will take a month or two to complete? So it's either close or fit an interim measure?
Fire angel offer a wireless solution linking up to 50 devices (i personally wouldn't do that many).
The wireless fire angels don't meet part 1 standards, but work, and are quick and easy to install.
Additionally you would need to implement robust management procedures/checks and fully explain to the RP the risks associated.

What's the size of this premises and number of rooms?

Happy to discuss further as we've had to do this on a number of occasions.

Howlers site alarms have developed significantly in recent years and now offer wireless linking, smoke and heat detection and control panel (with 240V PSU option)

So are we saying that "un-monitored" part 6 detection is suitable for "large" sleeping accommodation ???

Its a while ago now, but the Crisis people put a full monty fire alarm system into a relatively large building in the space of a few days.

I assume they still do it.

Domestic smoke alarms are often used as interim solutions.

The Howler Go-link system does have fault and power monitoring, it's not quite a part 1 fire alarm system but it's far better than a load of 9v smoke alarms or even interlinked domestic stuff.

There are (or at least were) companies that specialised in rental of fire alarm systems for situations such as this.
