hi mate im a firefighter with north wales frs   firstly good luck

and the only advice I can give you is, show an interest in progression through the service as the way it's getting now is constant training and development,
make some refrence to this and show that you have done your homework,
IE.  know how many stations there are.  which is 44 by the way  and how many
 divisions.

check the website out for info that you can use,  and just be yourself
good luck

i would add that many brigades are now looking at the potential of a person to develop rather than looking at what thyey can do/already know.

i would be looking at the ipds web site and looking at the personal qualities and attributes you will be required at some stage to demonstrate - they may be more interested in you as a person rather than the 'swotting up' you do - i would say though that there is importance in understanding any 'job' and 'prosepective employer' prior to application - so dont ignore the advice offered above in terms of knowing your prospective employers business
