Revised Firecode. Will it apply to private healthcare????
« on: June 15, 2006, 03:52:04 PM »
I have heard that the revised Firecode documents will apply in some way to private healthcare, in that private healthcare organisations must have due regard to firecode (or some similar wording).

Is this accurate or am I hearing the tail end of a chinese whisper?

I think you've got the tail end of a chinese whisper.  As I understand it the guidance is as per current HTM's mandatory for NHS, but a guide to best practice for other sectors.  However, the DH policy may require Firecode compliance of any facility used to treat NHS patients.

Is it possible that the Guide on 'Healthcare Premises' yet to be published by DCLG in connection with the FSO may cite the Firecode as 'best practice'?
