BS 5839 part 1 2002
« on: December 27, 2005, 04:52:47 PM »
I have a query as regards to the foundation of what the fire alarm is based upon. Does the standard expect that there is only one fire alarm system incorpoarted in a building? [It is acepted that if the building has dwellings as part of the design, then these can have a seperate system(s) ie BS 5839 part 6].

Therefore, it can be assumed that this one system would cover the communial parts and any system provided to trigger any integrated systems e.g. AOV's for smoke control?

Any information would be grateful either by BBS or direct e mail.

A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi, Bs 5839-1 only concerns itself with means fo giving warning. It does not deal with systems intended to operate other facilities, although it does not preclude such an arrangement.
