compartmentation pricing
« on: May 02, 2007, 10:25:32 AM »
Hi fellas, I am wondering if any of you guys deal with the pricing of fire safety related products? as this is something I do not do.  I have a client who has a premises that is 6 storey in height and has no fire separation between floors i.e. you can see the beams and floorboards above you, I have given them the various options to urgrade the fire resistance, but they obviously want the most inexpensive. So was wondering which method is the cheapest per square metre, fr plasterboard, vermiculite boarding, fr spray applications etc.?

The April edition of the Architects Journal gave these costing figures for metal stud partition gypsum based products:

30 mins: £45-55 /m2
60 mins  £50-65/m2
120 mins £65-80/m2

Timber stud is more robust in fire so therefore the sheet thickness/number of layers required is less for equivalent levels of fire resistance.  Check out the White Book.
