securing devises on final exit doors

Can anybody help - is their any definitive guide as to the locking /security devises that could be fitted to a final exit door. We have lots of BS's for the individual devices but I cannot find any simple guidance for what type of device could/should be fitted for various types of premises - ie hotel , res care , theatre - & dependant upon the number of occupants.

This is another one of those Risk Assessment issues. Most unlocking devices are usually referred to generically as Easy Open Devices, if that is what they can do.
It depends very much on the occupancy capacity, type of premises, type of occupancy, occupancy capability, it goes on.
How a device operates and the ease of operation. usually single handedly or, in the case of large numbers of people, without hands, is the important bit.

Do not forget the DDA difficulty with evacuation.  The wrong device fitted with an employee or visitor who may not be able to open the device will cause major difficulties.  many people suffer hand impediments such as arthiritis and are unable to open some conventional door opening mechanisms such as snib locks.
