T&E for detection cts on L2
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:26:54 PM »
Hi Guys,
Pop quiz time. can anyone tell me at what date the use if T&E was stopped for detector cts on full L2 system. Was it the 1980 /1988 / 2002 version of the code and was there any exception on dates for red T&E.
Actually same goes for T&E for bell circuits also (although I think that was 1980).

Background behind my question is. Went to fault find on a fire system today and found T&E on detector and bell cts. Obviously I   am going to make non compliance comments on this and the many other things I have spotted. My local authority has insisted on fire cable on everything since time began regardless of  regs,so my time line of this topic is rubbish. Today though I am working away in another area so have to be able to quote facts and dates and my memory of before 2002 is bleary.

Worst thing is I think this guy only had the alarms installed in 2003 by some unscrupulous person. The list of faults I have found is frightening!!!!!. Even more odd is the alarm has been services by a local firm for 3 years without making comment on it.!! Would like my facts and dates in my amour to assure the guy I am respectable rather than the last guy or guys.

Thanks in advance.

John

Twin and earth was ok to 1988 standards for detection circuits but not alarm circuits.

anyone who has installed it in 2003 wants shot.
