Liquid Nitrogen Storage

I have just started at a new hospital and they want to know what area of evacuation would be required for a major spill of liquid nitrogen with a building. They already have the store in a building. i was just wondering what your recommendations would be.

Is this in a purpose built storage area, with ventilation and means of containing any spilage?
Is it in the main hospital building or an outbuilding? what sort of volume?

Lots of questions- not sure I have an answer for you though!

In general I see two main problems, first the nitrogen would turn back to gas and you will have an oxygen depleted atmosphere and second it will be very cold until it all evaporates off.

However watch out for liquid oxygen a totally different problem.

it is 2, 50 ltrs drums in a room which opens onto a corridor at the top of a staircase all the safety precautions will be in place
