I have come across this before in the Oldham area - apparently someone doing fire warden training courses in that area is telling people that in accordance with signs and signals regs exit doors must be painted in accordance with Eupopean Safety colours- ie green for exit doors. And they believed it and indeed one large Mill that I did a risk assessment on has had all its doors painted green as a result. Makes you wonder.
Then you get the oposite angle- I have lost quite a large customers future business because I have given them "wrong" information in my risk assessment. I told them it was their job to make arrangements for the assistance of disabled persons in refuges and the role of the fire service is purely as a safety net. They checked with their fire training provider (An apostle who drives an ambulance) and with the local fire station both of whom said I was wrong, and all they had to do was to provide refuges for wheelchair users - it was the fire brigades job to move people from the refuge.
C'est la vie.
