Morley IAS Chubb Controlmaster 380a Network question
« on: June 30, 2008, 06:39:54 PM »
I'm having a problem with a site at present. It has a controlmaster 320 networked with a controlmaster 380a.
There is also a repeater panel running from the 320.

The problem I have is that the 380a has developed a motherboard problem.  Morley tell me that they no longer manufacture the 380a. Can you network a 380b to the rest of the panels without any problems??

As far as I remember, old morley systems accept mixing panels of different software versions of the same network. but the new ones from 'fire 6' all panels of the same newtwork must have the same software version to work properly.
Also with old stuff it is better to give a try... what else could happen? the worst senario is to say the panel is old enough... it needs changing

The software on the old panel will be dos and newer versions are windows , you will probably be told that although it may work you might not get all the relevant info as required over the network , ie silence reset commands etc
Its time to make a counter attack !

DO NOT MIX 832-M100 WITH VERSIONS OF ZX SERIES CONTROL PANEL SOFTWARE EARLIER THAN 828-M100 ON THE SAME NETWORK.THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE.

EARLIER VERSIONS OF SOFTWARE SHOUKD BE MATCHED WITH CONTROL PANEL SOFTWARE VERSION 706-Gm0

This is the intro to the tech doc but it goes on to say older versions of software will only work with fire 5 software (DOS based) otherwise network messages will be lost.

I will e-mail the info to whoever.

Yeah I can vouch for that about the not mixing. We had a new 380b (832 software) put onto an existing network with 812 software and below and the guy whom commissioned it obviously didn't test it as the 'event' programming he took the time to configure never went out across the network. And it's a Hospital (!)

Cheers lads,
Could someone please send me the info, This is basically what I thought, The system covers a large student housing block in Derry, N.Ireland.

The 380a and 320 are were probably installed circa 2000, So looks like an upgrade to both panels is required.
