Fire Service message.  GET OUT, STAY OUT, CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE OUT.

If you do not use it you will lose it.  More fire service cuts are coming, soon we will be back to insurance plaques on walls.
Sorry to be controversial, but the reality is that the vast majority of fires (Essex FRS told me 90%) are extinguished without fire service intervention.  If we all walked away from every bin on fire, every cigarette but smouldering on a sofa, we would be in a crazy world.

Irrespective of that the fire brigades recommend, people will and do tackle fires and the law requires fire fighting apparatus in places of work.

What will you do if someone drops a cigarette into the waste paper basket sat next to you while you read this message on FireNet?  Walk out the office and leave it to burn to the ground, or quickly put it out........

Simple, there are no bins where I work and no smoking either.  But I do understand, acknowledge and appreciate the comment.  My thought is, be careful of what you wish for it may become a reality.  I have worked in a large number of places and visited as many again, no one has ever seen or expressed to me that they have used an extinguisher to put out a fire, even an incipient one.  However, that is just one peron's perspective, fires do occur and I in my past career put a few out.

I've used them on building sites (used to have a proper job). Probably saved the building (and my neck)
