Hi Paleredfox, I did my tests on the 12th Jan. There was yellow hoses used on the tests aswell as red ones. The tests were ok and the assessor's are very helpful and approachable. We were told that we will be informed of the results after the 16th Feb! Remember, although we may have passed the practical tests, that does not mean we have progressed to the interview stage! Apparently an average score from your application, written test and practical test is taken, which is compared to everyone else's average, you must then score over the average mark to proceed further! If you've not done your tests yet then good luck, make sure your there on time as one lad was two minutes late in my group and was told to go away! Have fun, Joe.

Nice one Joe, hope it all goes well:-)

One question though - did they let you swap gloves for the ladder extension if you had crap ones with no grip? Asking because they did last year if you asked because the rope is such that if you have no grip on your debris/fire fighting gloves then its a mo-fo to get a good grip on the rope.

A retained guy from Strathclyde failed the ladder extension because of this....

Also how did you do on the BA test - again I think they are using the POD thats mobile around certain stations rather than the SHIP thats always at Mac road?

Hi paleredfox, yes they let you swap gloves for the ladder extension, there will be several pairs to choose from. They are also using the POD for the BA stage. As I said previously, the assessors were very helpful throughout the tests so if you need to clarify anything then just ask! Good luck Joe.

HI Joe,

Did they say at your practical that they are still using the same accumulative scoring to get an interview as last year? Just that have spoke to a few people at L&B that said they aren't this year. Got mine end of the month.

Hi,

Done the practicals this morning and got on ok.

As far as I am aware the same scoring process is being used.

So for example you may pass everything but your average score may fall short of the mark needed to get an interview.

Hi Rossco, re accumulative scores, I have been seeking guidance from a watch manager from my local station throughout the recruitment process and he informed me that this was still being used in order to progress to the interview stage. Hope all goes well with your practical tests! Joe.

Hi all,
I received a letter from CSFRS on Sat 7th informing me I had progressed to the interview stage. We were initially told that the letter's informing us how we had done would not be sent out until the 16th Feb, so hopefully everyone will be hearing how they got on shortly! Good luck Joe.

Hi Joe,
I got my letter on Sat also informing me I have an interview. Was a bit surprised that it was so early as like you was told 16th Feb. Good luck with your interview.

Hi all, glad to see the site is up and running! I failed my interview with CSFRS, waiting for feedback. Apparently the recruitment  team get feedback from the individual FRS and this is passed on to each applicant, so its been taking a bit of time. I don't know what went wrong as I thought my interview went ok, obviously not well enough! Good luck to you's all Joe.

Hi Rossco, well done pal, hope everything goes well for you! I've just done my ambulance technician training, so hopefully this will help me when I re-apply for the fire service! I am considering re-applying for LBFRS so I may be seeking some guidance from you soon, I hope! Good luck Joe.
