West Midlands FS

Hi all,

Good news, I've had a successful application!  ;D Woohoo. ;D I've sent back the occupational health questionnaire, so I'm just now waiting for my written test date.

I can't seem to find any information online other than USA firefighter sites. Fireservice.co.uk is great, but doesn't give specific detail.

Hopefully the numerical side shouldn't be a problem, unless they do fractions I may be buggered!

When they ask you to assess situations, do they get you to read or listen to a few paragraphs, take it away, and THEN ask you the questions, or do you have it in front of you to refer to?

If anyone has an example, or recommended literature it would be greatly appreciated.

Any other successful applicants too?

Regards,
Markos

The tests that you will be required to undertake are nothing too tricky.

WMFS should be sending you out an info pack soon which should include some sample questions based around the National Firefighter Selection Written Tests you will be expected to take.

The information pack should also give you details about the physical tests you are expected to undertake.

Just give it a week or so and see if anything arrives in the post. If not let me know again I'll message you with some further details rather than me blather on here about the tests.

recruitment is moving again with WMFS?

I sent back the occupation health form back in end Jan/Feb and was told it would be a looooong wait for the physicals. Have you heard any more news on the next stages?

also ive got Byrons 'How to pass the fire fighters selection process' and its pretty good.

the situation awareness tests consist of a few paragraphs then questions about it, i dont think they take it off you as its not designed to test your memory but rather your interpretation of the situation
