Condenmned
« on: September 15, 2009, 08:28:19 PM »
Created a document in MS Word recently and misspelled the word Condemned for "Condenmned".

I missed it, the spellchecker didn’t pick it and I  printed the document off and sent it to the customer. Noticed it afterwards and then went back to the document to find out why I hadn’t seen it highlighted as an error.

Done a spellcheck again and it still wasn’t picked up so went into Tools, Options, Spelling and Grammer, Custom dictionaries but the word “Condenmned” wasn’t there.

Does any one have any suggestions as to what is wrong with my spellchecker?

Have you previously learnt the misspelling as being correct by 'adding to dictionary' ?

You can check what 'weird' words you have added to your spellchecker by checking out your Custom Dictionary as follows:

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar tab.
Click Custom Dictionaries.
Select the dictionary you want to edit. Make sure you do not clear its check box.
Click Modify.
Do one of the following:

To delete a word, select it in the Dictionary box, and then click Delete.
To edit a word, delete it, and then add it with the spelling you want

Deleting the Custom Dictionary does not affect the in-built 'proper' dictionary

I just googled "condenmned" and got a decent number of hits.  Looks like you haven't invented a new word here but you're certainly one of the first to use it!  Well done.  I'll look for opportunities to slip it into reports where I can to enhance the emergence of the new word.

Also googled "condemmed" out of curiosity and got thousands of hits.  What is the world coming to?  Nothing surprises me after I got over ten thousand hits for "bananananana!"
