Can I be the chief fire officer though, Christopher?  And can we employ striking firemen or not?

mr todd and mr houston. i am pleased that you take such an interest in all things 'industry' if only you could actually influence things, especially mr todd and his love of all things in the ownership of the few for the benefit of the masses, because of course we the masses may think we know best, but in reality only those with the power have true knowledge and wisdom to guide us through this difficult times.

capitalists of the uk unite - oops they already have done in a 'company' called new labour!

C.O. Todd - There's a thought.

Sorry Colin, if it goes to a vote I'd rather vote for John two Jags Prescott as I'd have more chance of keeping my job with him in charge, as I don't suppose I'll have a job in your modernised service.

Perhaps I could look after your horses between shouts or polish the hook ladders?

Messy, Even in your large metropolitan brigade and its dinosaurs they dont have hook ladders do they? I am, in any case, wounded that after all the advice I have given to your brigade through your good offices over the years, you cannt see fit to vote for me! There will always be a job for you, but the moonlighting will have to stop Im afraid. Poor mrs Messey will have to go out to work if you want a second income. Perhaps I could canvass your vote for me as a member of the IFE Board when the ballot papers come out????

Sorry Colin, I assumed you'd be bringing back horses and hook ladders during your attempts to continue with the modernisation program.

As for Mrs Messy going out to work, I am surprised and pleased by your contemporary view on working women. I thought you were against them having a vote, let alone working!!

If they had left them chained to the railings of the Palace, they would have come home when they were hungry. S

Green godesses at £3,500 almost brand new, not required by the military, and owned by ODPM, the military will have red ones next time, if there is a next time, but beware, we had a ship building, mining and car industry in the past, all with stronge unions, were are they now, Mr. Wrack is left of andy and when joined by his mate Dark, look out.
A private fire brigade to take over, may not be far from the truth, a good business bet, count me in.

Will we make it a non-union company Christopher. I am worried about Davie's future career as a communist revolutionary. Doesn't seem a lot of future for their lot. If the chips are down, could we find him a job washing the appliances (after re-programming of his political mind , you understand)?

By the way, Messey, I dont want to be a Chief Fire Officer, I want to be a Firemaster like they have in God's own country. Course, when the raving luny PC lot get their way, they will all be Firemistresses. Hm has a certain ring to it that......thoughts of strictness and leather and whips.

you must be looking at the wrong tin mr todd. mine says 'best taken with a pinch of salt' (the salt being extracted by the good persons of capitalist persuasion)
