Phoenix that is exactly what I did those many years ago but it’s how I produce a solution that is in dispute. I would use TD, to determine if I could reach a place of relative safety then to place of ultimate safety without putting any occupants in serious danger. Now I could use ASET to determine the time but then I would convert it to TD. But I have been told this is wrong and I should use ASET/RSET but without a computer and fire model I still don’t see how I can apply it to an existing building when on the hoof?

Incidentally I fully agree with the flow chart Fig 3 page 59 in BS 9999.
All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.
