Some years ago, First Alert issued a 25-30 minute video called Plan To Get Out Alive. Despite being free of charge and American, it was very good. Not patronising, not over dramatised or overly sentimental. Just about right, and it went down very well with audiences. It featured a Chap Called Frank Field who is quite well know in fire safety circles in the states, and included interviews with people who had been involved in fires. Quite hard hitting but no disturbing or too upsetting.
I don’t know if it’s still available, if it is, it may look a little dated, but the messages will be every bit as relevant today as they were then. There was a British version made by one of the fire brigades some years after the FA/MCD version was issued, but it wasn’t anywhere near as good.
If anybody has a contact at First Alert or McD’s then I’d urge you to encourage them produce another film of similar content and quality. I’d certainly buy it.
