Hello all,
I was hoping that someone maybe able to help clear this one up for me.
We have just been told that under the re-alignment we are to lose 2 of our crew managers.
Being on a 2 pump ret station currently we have Stn manager, watch man, and 3 crew managers.
The cover that these jo's give is pretty mix and match and ultimately this will lead to pumps of the run as our brigade will no longer let a FF take the pump out until they have completed the crew manager/ incident command course.

Further on from that it has always been know that the retained is dead mans ( or womans ) boots and i can see that is only going to get worse and may lead to recruitment problems.
In my opionion i think that in the retained service all the carrots that were dangled in front of us are all slowly be taken away.
Does anybody have a better understanding of this topic that they would like to share with me or point me in the right direction.

i had had a look on FBU website and cannot find much info and have spoken with my station rep and he was about as much use as a chocolate tea pot.

ok, i am 'hosting' seminars across the uk for brigade and regional reps to update them on r2r. as soon as your brigade rep has attended they will know 'more' and possibly be able to answer your question. ask them if thay have attended yet, regions 3,4,6,9 and 2 have yet to attend - they will be completed before the end of june.
there is nothing on the fbu website cos we havent agreed anything yet, and wont post there until we have!
