Door holders and closers.
« on: February 01, 2011, 08:27:59 AM »
With regard to acoustically activated door holders, is the advertising claim that products comply with BS EN 1154 and 1155, without any reference to BS 7273 -4 misleading?

If that were the case, but Fireco have updated all their literature & website to include BS7273-4

The standard dorgard, dorgard x, and freedor complies with BS 7273-4 category C

Dorgard X used with System X can meet categories A & b depending on how installed.

It's probably third party distributors that haven't updated websites and are using old flyers

Not quite true actually.

Dorgard & Freedor (Wireless swing free) is Cat C
Dorgard X (system X) is cat B (There is only one way to install so not sure where you got that from?!)
Hardwired Dorgard is Cat A

The mentioning of EN is relevant when selling to places that dont use BS

Hmmm it doesn't say that

The hardwired radio is Cat A

The acoustic radio is Cat B

Dorgard Cat C

Ah but I looked at a summary brochure which states the radio one can be A or B (like as you say dependent upon hardwiring or not) and the basic Dorgard is C.

Not that I've found any installation yet that is to the letter of BS 7273 and a lot of the fire alarm industry are only just vaguely aware it exists!
