Sprinklered warehouses and plastic tote boxes
« on: September 21, 2011, 08:30:46 PM »
Please has anybody come across a supplier of mesh metal tote boxes say 75- 100  litre size for use in warehouses.

Quite rightly the insurers will not tolerate the use of plastic tote boxes in the racks due to the umbrella effect, their weight if full of water and the risk of pooled liquid fires if the plastic melts. The option is to either provide foam induction into the sprinkler system if plastic tote boxes are used (and drill a million holes in them)  or find a supplier of mesh metal boxes.

I have googled without success. Looking for something around 600x400x400mm. Anyone else found an answer to this? Must be a common problem?

Try these

Although they look solid perhaps they could make the bases out of weld mesh worth a try.
The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to those who think they've found it.
