Idol, the OED rules used to be that if a word had a Greek route you could ONLY use the z form for ize.  However, no one learns Greek any more, so they relaxed the rule a bit and changed it to one along the lines that, where there is a choice, the Z form is the OED preferred, but the ise is a second form of spelling.  The entire guide is written with the ize form, as OED is our own preferred style, though we do let the team ise ise if they really want to.  However , for formal published work such as this we stick to OED.

Colin, you will appreciate that I'm old school fire service and therefore no great scholar but, whilst I am eternally grateful for your explanation,  it's still all Greek to me.  ;)

Almost, you should have asked us and we would have directed your enquiry to the right people in CFOA.  There are still places in Manchester if you are quick.

I think my answer did fit on the back of a postcard.

You may have noticed that all British standards use the ize form.

NT there's definitely one place available at Manchester tomorrow because my +1 has let me down at short notice; if all else fails you'll have to pretend to be my friend.

Productive morning at the Manchester event.

Plenty of discussion points - Loft spaces, scooters, person centred risk assessments and alarm systems.

I dont recall being in Scotland, Wullie?????  But GMC did us proud, no doubt.  Shame Almost couldnt make it.  Suppers looks even older in the flesh.
Almost, if you want to come to London on Monday, we can probably slip you in the back door, but you would need to let me know really soon, and stop working to Norn Iron time.

All requests for info were passed on to CFOA, who did the admin for these events.

Almost, you are probably not disadvantaged greatly by your desire to be nearly  elsewhere.  The purpose of these roadshows is not to provide training or CPD but to obtain views of the stakeholders regarding what is in the current draft.  As a result of the Mcr roadshow, we are currently making around 10-20 changes to the text.

Once further changes are made in response to feedback that will no doubt arise at the roadshows tomorrow, a fourth draft will be made available for public comment via the CFOA website.  Comments on that draft should be made via a comments template on which commentators are asked to propose specific changes to wording.  These comments should go to us at spechousing@cstodd.co.uk.

A fifth and final draft will then go for consideration by the editorial group, who represent enforcing authorities, the housing sector, etc.

Thanks Dot. Can CFOA be trusted with this?
