Door Stop Size
« on: October 31, 2017, 07:27:02 AM »
Please could anyone confirm whether a fire resisting door set, if fitted with intumescent strips and cold smoke seals, still requires a 25mm door stop?

My research into this has lead me to contradictory findings. Thanks

The provision of Int and SS meant that the 25mm door stop glued and screwed was no longer necessary.
Double swing FR doors don't need stops provided the Int and SS are fitted.

If it was tested with a 25mm stop, it will need a 25mm stop.

One of the manufacturers told me that the 25mm stop aids capillarity action and providing strips and seals are fitted the 12mm stop is better.

Are the doors original to the frames and are they a 'set'? As Colin says the door and frames need to be a tested system. You could find one fire door that required 25mm stops (or an inch in old money) and another that was design not to need stops so wide. What do the specs for the door say (should such information be available).
