Bill, thanks for that. It reinforces my contention that firefighters are a different breed! Way back in the late 70's, things were bleak in Belfast. Apart from our stupid troubles, jobs were scarce. When the NI Fire Brigade placed a recruitment notice in the Belfast Telegraph I must have been one of the first to apply. Perhaps much to the relief of my parents, I didn't get in. Just as well because I am not of that breed. I certainly don't have the head for heights and I really don't have the reserves of courage that are needed!
This is why I wanted to establish if the risk to firefighters is any greater in a building that has 60min floors and has its top floor 2m higher than the cut-off 18m limit where 60min becomes 90min.
