Recruitment
« on: November 26, 2005, 01:22:33 AM »
We are seeking further consultants to join the team. Much of the work of the two new consultants who we hope to recruit will involve carrying out fire risk assessments, but also giving general fire safety advice. Typically, the new recruits would have substantial experience in fire safety (eg 8-10 years continuous and recent) within a fire and rescue service. ADO level preferred but good station officers also a possibility. We hope that one of the new consultants will live in the home counties, for ease of striking distance to London, but their experience should have been gained outside LFEPA. Any bright ideas or interest, please contact me.

Colin,

Why is this? Do you have a low opinion of all LFB fire safety officers?
The views expressed in this forum are personal and not necessarily those of my employer.

Glad to see that Colin now has principle's. Noting his title. We have one or two Principal Officers, but none as yet have been able to fully demonstrate their Principles. I would love to know what the test is and again how the rest of us can apply, never mind any work with his lofty company.

Ranks (Principle Member and Senior Member) are based on the number of posts each member has made.  Of course, with all rules, bribery and flattery of the Forum Admin could have an influence too.

Chris, It depends a lot on experience and qualifications. I know that sounds a bit vague, but it is the truth!!!Steve, It is simply company policy regarding the nature of the experience and training that we are looking for. It has nothing to do with the opinion about people as individuals. Firey, As you will see, the title (albeit with a spelling error) is automatically awarded (if that is the right term), which is why you are automatically shown as senior, which you probably thought was based on your age. And the company does not work out a loft; it is on a ground floor.

Chris and Colin - this was a tongue in cheek comment at the spelling error. It is a common mistake by people to see principles in their principals. I was quite aware of the means by which one becomes senior, or principAL. I was just unsure upon the demonstrations I needed to be deemed pricipLED!

Colin glad to see you have an easy escape in case of fire then!

Chris, I am far too principled to offer a bribe!

I live in a home county outside of the LFPA area, and have good amount of striking experience in London. Could we come to a compromise??

Colin, have you ever considered using associates from other areas of the country to reduce costs?

We already have full time PAYE employees in different areas of the country, but there is no way we could control quality of as and when type sub-contractors, nor would we want to spend our time and money with the CPD, technical development, etc of people who are not employees. It just would not work for us, but thanks for the thought.
