I would like to set up a web site for industrial fire teams past and present. I have some images myself but for this site to work, I require assistance from serving or ex-members of any industrial fire teams. Those pictures gathering dust in a draw, are testimony to our small but important contribution to private industry fire safety.

Please could you forward any images black white/colour with some background information, the year and where the picture was taken? I don't know if this idea will get any interest but if it does I will publish the sites details ASAP.

or
Dounreay - http://www.caithness.org/fpb/dounreay/fireambulance/
for the UKAEA site.

Tractorman9, thank you for your reply direct to this notice board, I am pleased someone else is interested in our small but vital role within industrial fire safety. I can’t deny responses have been light, I hope this is because few from industry view firenet, rather than people are not interested.

I am not having much luck finding info on industrial set-ups, but I have been given some leads, and if these prove fruitful I will progress with my idea for a specific web site.

Chris/Tractorman9, I am the company Fire Manager for a major "Top Tier COMAH" site located in the North West of England. We have our own on-site Emergency response teams made up from 6 shifts which operate on a 12 hour shift pattern 365 days/year. All of our teams are either ex fire service or industrial firefighter trained (through Lancashire Fire Brigade at washington Hall).
We have two fully operational fire appliances, one of them being a specialist foam appliance which carries 2000gallons of foam concentrate, which was manufactured by E-One in Florida and then shipped over to the U.K.

Ref the guy who was interested in perhaps setting up a web site on Industrial teams - Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk has a small 16 man crew covering 24x7 for fire and medical first responder calls.

PORT FIRE & AMBULANCE SERVICE
Web site = http://www.portoffelixstowe.co.uk/press … px?pid=112

and

http://www.portoffelixstowe.co.uk/publi … tance.aspx

Plus (like other certain ports and the 2 Northern Ireland Airports / and Mersey Tunnels Police ) they have thier own accredited non home office Police with full constabulary powers)

PORT POLICE

Any others - I'm always interested !! Bring them on !!

Chris,
May be able to provide info/pics of the former Fire Research Station voluntary works fire brigade - I was the last OiC before closure of the brigade in 1984.

When you say '...forward any images ...' I presume you mean by electronic means?
