They are lower cost but you may possibly pay the price in the longer term with these devices.

You are right about the range. 868 is less far reaching, however it can be more robust than 173 and as you say the latest EN54 standard will eventually see 173 disappear.
Hello Wozzer.... yep the backup cell is a "watch" (albeit a bit large!!) battery and is monitored by the control equipment. I think it should give 2 months operation before failure...

I presume as responsible installers, we should return the two cells (they're both lithiums) - three in teh sounders, back to the supplier for disposal. But then these are essentially watch/camera batteries, how many are sold around the world and just thrown in the bin.......??
