London Underground Fire Procedures
« on: May 22, 2006, 02:10:33 PM »
I have been asked to research London Underground procedures and in particular Bb224 and Bb218, however I am having trouble locating information regarding these 2 points.

Is there anyone that can tell me any information on Bb224 and Bb218 or where I can locate any material to carryout my research.

Your help is much appreciated.

CB - I assume you have made enquiries from LUL

If they are reluctant to help, the LFB have a specialised FS dept who deal exclusively with the tube network. I think that they are known as the Transport Group or a similar title

(You can always recognise one of their IOs as they develop over-sized eyes and a keen sense of smell having been deprived of daylight during the working week!)

CBfire999,  Bb 218 isa standard that relates to applications for temporary (short term) exemptions from Reg 4 (1) of the Sub Surface Regs.  It is a written agreement between the owners and the FRS for a defined area of a station to allow relaxation.  Bb224 applies to open ended exemptions and are submitted on plans.  This would allow the regs to be waived for an undefined period of time, again, agreement needs to be reached between the FRS and the owners.

Bb224 isn't just to do with exemptions; it's called "FIRE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS – COMPLIANCE WITH FIRE PRECAUTIONS AND PROCESS FOR CHANGE" & it details LU's procedures for complying with The fire precautions (sub-surface railway stations) regulations, the 1971 FP Act and the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations.

The trail seems to have gone cold on this one, have you obtained everything that you need in terms of Bb224 or do you need any further information.
